September 9th and September 11th Anniversaries to be Key Dates for North Korea and Islamic Terror
In the third part of an English-language series on the Islamic State (ISIS) media channel, Furat Wilayah, promoting lone-wolf jihad style attacks, the terror group has called on its supporters to use cyanide to poison food in Western grocery stores. Additionally, a recent ISIS video shows elderly jihadis teaching young orphans to be suicide bombers. Furthermore, ISIS Supporters are said to be celebrating Hurricane Irma on social media as “this is the Reward of Your Crimes Against Muslims.” ISIS is reportedly planning a new wave of attacks against Western targets to boost morale following battlefield defeat in Syria and Iraq. Western intelligence officials have warned that ISIS Supreme leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is still likely alive and leading the group and that new terror groups could emerge from the Islamic State. Al-Baghdadi is believed to be plotting 'sophisticated attacks' on countries such as Britain and other countries in Europe with the anniversary of September 11th only days away. There are indications that the reconstituted al-Qaeda will also act out against Western targets on the September 11th anniversary of their greatest attack as it struggles for ‘market share’ with ISIS.
Three men were arrested in a Paris suburb planning to use ISIS favorite explosive TATP to target banks. A US drone strike has killed three members of the al-Shabab extremist group in the Bay region, about 75 kilometers west of the capital, Mogadishu. India has scored a diplomatic victory against Pakistan after BRICS listed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and al-Qaeda as terrorist groups. BRICS is the acronym for an association of five major emerging national economies including: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa that have recently met in China.
On the international security front, Israel has attacked a military site in Syria’s Hama province early on Thursday that is said to be linked to chemical weapons production. The air strike killed two Syrian soldiers and caused damage near the town of Masyaf.
Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko, has warned that Russia could use its massive Zapad-2017 exercises with Belarus as "a smokescreen to create new Russian army assault groups to invade Ukrainian territory."
On Thursday, China agreed that the UN needs to take a leadership role and more action against North Korea after its latest nuclear test. The US, Japan, South Korea and the UK want the UN Security Council to impose an oil embargo on North Korea, ban its textile exports and the hiring of North Korean laborers abroad, and to subject leader Kim Jong Un to an asset freeze. As well, on Thursday, Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, agreed to decisively condemned North Korea’s launch of a nuclear-capable Hwasong-12 Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) that flew over Japan. Putin called for the crisis around North Korea to be resolved peacefully through a roadmap proposed by Moscow and Beijing. The UN Security Council vote on new sanctions is set for September 11th. There are reports that South Korea believes that the North has readied a Hwasong-14 Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) for launch on or about September 9th over the Northern Pacific and has decided to test fire the rocket on a normal trajectory to demonstrate its range.
