SENATE BRIEFING LIKELY TO COME IN AFTERMATH OF NORTH KOREAN NUCLEAR TEST AND AS PRELUDE TO USE OF FORCE BY US

In a phone call Sunday, US President, Donald Trump, warned Chinese President, Xi Jinping, about North Korea's "continued belligerence" and said its actions were destabilizing. For his part, Chinese President, Xi Jinping, asked President Trump to show restraint with North Korea.

In a very worrying sign that a North Korean nuclear test may be imminent, the entire US Senate of 100 senators have been invited to the White House for a briefing on North Korea by US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense, Jim Mattis, Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General, Joseph Dunford. The briefing will reportedly take place at 3 p.m. EDT. The White House is reportedly working on a similar briefing for Members of the House of Representatives. It is an almost certainty that the White House would brief both the Senate and the House prior to the use of force against Kim Jong-un and his regime.

In other developments, the Japanese government has encouraged local government units to organize evacuation drills in response to the potential for a North Korean attack. The US Center for the National Interest has tweeted that sources in South Korean government believe that there is a 50 percent chance of a nuclear test or missile tonight EST."

Finally, I was reported that a US nuclear-powered attack submarine with 150 Tomahawk Land Attack Cruise Missiles has joined the growing US, Japanese, and South Korean naval forces in the Sea of Japan.
